GLVADA receives 2012 Outstanding Fundraising Group Award

The Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers Association (GLVADA) today received the 2012 Outstanding Fundraising Group Award presented by the Association of Fundraising Professional’s (AFP) Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter.

The Lehigh Valley Auto Show benefits local charities.

GLVADA was nominated by Northampton Community College (NCC) where the organization is an important partner for students pursuing auto technology careers. GLVADA dealers employ dozens of NCC student interns, and nearly every GLVADA car dealership employs Northampton Auto Tech graduates in its shops and service departments.

In addition to hosting an annual Auto Technology Competition involving high school students from eight local vocational schools, the association maintains two scholarships for NCC Auto Technology students each year.

“We’re honored to be recognized alongside other leading charitable organizations in the area,” GLVADA Executive Director Tom Kwiatek said.

GLVADA’s nomination was also based on their donation of a substantial percentage of its annual auto show proceeds to support non-profit, charitable organizations in the Lehigh Valley community. GLVADA has contributed more than $600,000 to charitable gifts and scholarships during the last five years. Within the last year alone, the association contributed just under $153,000 to area non-profits. The association is best known for the Lehigh Valley Auto Show and Auto Show Gala, which benefits a select local charity each year.

“We’re honored to be recognized alongside other leading charitable organizations in the area,” GLVADA Executive Director Tom Kwiatek said. “Our dealers take pride in being actively involved in the community. They understand the importance of giving back to deserving organizations who contribute to making the Lehigh Valley a better place to work, live and play. Each year, we strive to increase our contribution to community organizations and are looking forward to raising funds for this year’s Auto Show Gala beneficiary – the Lehigh Valley Health Network Children’s Hospital.”
